Terms of use

SoundDrop’s rules in a single document: account, virtual items, trading, conduct and your rights.

Updated ≈ 16 min readVersion française

English translation for convenience. The French version is the original and prevails in case of any discrepancy.

1. Purpose, publisher and applicable documents

These terms of use (the “SoundDrop Terms”) govern the use of the SoundDrop mobile game (the “Game”) and its online services. The Game is published by Noah Boch, sole trader (entrepreneur individuel, EI, micro-entreprise), registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register (RCS) under number 944 453 935 (SIRET 944 453 935 00016), with registered office at 60 rue François Ier, 75008 Paris, France — phone +1 (505) 369-4704 — contact@arkodinstudio.com (see the legal notice).

“Arkodin Studio” is the brand name under which the publisher presents its games and the arkodinstudio.com website; it is not a separate company. Here, “we” means the publisher and “you” means the player.

Your contract for the Game consists of:

  1. these SoundDrop Terms;
  2. for purchases, the in-app purchase terms of sale;
  3. Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (“Standard EULA”), under which the iOS app is licensed to you.

The privacy policy explains what we do with your data. By installing the Game, creating an account or playing, you accept these documents. If you do not accept them, do not use the Game. They are available at any time from the Game (Profile → Settings) and on arkodinstudio.com; you can save or print them.

2. The game

SoundDrop is a blind-test and music card collection game. You listen to short song previews, guess the title, artist or year, earn rewards and collect cards representing songs. The Game also offers battles, challenges, a campaign, a season pass, trading between players, a market and auctions.

The Game is free to download and use. Some content can be obtained faster through optional in-app purchases. No purchase gives an advantage in battles. The Game requires a compatible iPhone (iOS version shown on the App Store) and an internet connection, at your own cost. It is offered in French, for personal and non-commercial use.

3. Minimum age and minors

The Game is intended for people aged at least 13. If you are under 13, you must not use the Game.

If you are under 15, you must get the consent of one of your parents (or legal guardian) before playing, in particular before registering your account with an email address (article 45 of the French Data Protection Act). If you are a minor, any in-app purchase must be authorized by your parents: they can use Apple’s Family Sharing and “Ask to Buy”, or Screen Time restrictions.

A parent can ask us at any time to delete their child’s account at contact@arkodinstudio.com.

4. Player account

Guest account and backup

On first launch, a guest account is created automatically, without an email address. Until it is saved, your progress is tied to your device: if you delete the app or change device, it may be lost for good. To keep it and find it on another device, save your account (Profile → Account):

  • with your email address: you receive a sign-in link or a one-time code by email;
  • with “Sign in with Apple”: Apple sends us an identifier specific to the Game and an email address, which you can choose to hide behind an Apple relay address.

You then sign in again the same way on any device.

One account per person

Your account is personal: you may not lend, share, sell or transfer it. Creating or using several accounts to get around the Game’s limits (gifts, trades, referrals, rewards, rankings) is prohibited.

Security

You are responsible for access to your email address, your Apple ID and your device. Never share a sign-in code received by email. Tell us without delay at support@arkodinstudio.com if you think someone is using your account without your permission.

Username and avatar

Your username and avatar are visible to other players. They must not be insulting, hateful, discriminatory, sexual, violent or misleading (for example impersonating an artist, a SoundDrop team member or another person), and must not contain personal contact details or advertising. We may change or replace a username that breaks these rules.

5. Intellectual property and licence

The Game and all its elements — the SoundDrop name and brand, logos, the Drop mascot, interfaces, illustrations, texts, interface sounds, databases and code — belong to the publisher or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. Music content is covered by section 11.

Subject to compliance with these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the Game, for your private and non-commercial use, for as long as you use it.

Except where expressly permitted by law, you may not copy, modify, translate, decompile or disassemble the Game, extract its content or databases, or exploit it commercially. You may share screenshots or game results for personal, non-commercial purposes.

6. Virtual currencies

The Game uses three virtual currencies:

CurrencyHow to get itWhat it’s forBetween players
CoinsBy playing (games, challenges, missions, rewards) and by selling cards on the marketPacks, streak freezes, market, auctions, tradesYes, through trades, the market and auctions, within their limits
GemsBy playing (some rewards) or through in-app purchasesPacks and shop itemsNot transferable
DustBy recycling cards, and in some rewardsCrafting cards of your choiceNot transferable

Virtual currencies are virtual items within the meaning of section 7: they have no monetary value, are neither electronic money nor a means of payment, and can never be exchanged for real money, goods or services outside the Game, nor refunded or converted, except where required by law. Prices in virtual currency and rewards may change for game balance.

7. Virtual items

Virtual currencies, cards, packs, hourglasses, streak freezes, cosmetics (frames, titles, effects), season-pass access, SoundDrop+ perks, trophies and badges are virtual items. When you obtain them, for free or through an in-app purchase, you receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use them in the Game, in accordance with these terms; you do not acquire ownership.

  • They can only be transferred to another player through the features provided in the Game (gifts, trades, market, auctions), within their limits.
  • Selling, buying or renting virtual items or accounts for real money or any consideration outside the Game is prohibited.
  • We may adjust the Game’s balance (prices in virtual currency, rewards, rates, item effects), without ever reducing the content of an in-app purchase already delivered, except in case of fraud, obvious error or refund.
  • If a technical error credits items by mistake (bug, exploit, duplicate), we may remove them or correct the balance.

8. Packs, odds and guarantee

  • Packs contain randomly drawn cards. They are earned by playing (rewards, gifts, campaign, pass) or bought with virtual currencies in the shop.
  • The odds by rarity and variant are shown before opening or purchase: in the shop (“i” button) and in Profile → Settings → Pack odds.
  • Some packs guarantee a minimum rarity (for example at least one Rare, Epic or Legendary card), shown on the pack.
  • A guarantee (“pity”) system ensures that after a certain number of packs without a given rarity, the next pack contains at least one. The thresholds are shown in the same place as the odds.
  • If the odds change, the new values are shown before they apply; a pack already opened is never changed.
  • Cards obtained from a pack can never be resold for real money.

9. Numbered and “Signed” cards

Some cards come in limited editions and carry a serial number (for example “No. 012/500” or “Signed 1/1”). These are rarity levels specific to the Game, with value only inside the Game.

A “Signed” card is a unique, numbered edition specific to the Game. It is not an autograph from the artist and implies no endorsement by them: it does not mean that the artist signed, endorsed or took part in that card or in the Game. A card represents a song in the Game and gives no rights over the work, the recording or the artist’s image.

10. Trades, market and auctions

From a certain level, the Game lets you gift cards to your friends, propose trades of cards and coins, sell cards for coins on the market and take part in auctions. These features only use the Game’s virtual items and currencies.

  • Trades, sales and auctions are final once accepted or concluded. Check carefully what you give and receive: we do not cancel a transaction because it was unbalanced.
  • Limits apply (required level, number of cards and coins per trade, daily caps, resale delay, listing and auction duration, a 10% fee taken in coins on market sales). They are shown in the Game and may change.
  • During a trade offer, listing or auction, the items and coins involved are locked, then returned if the transaction does not go through.
  • It is strictly prohibited to sell, buy or offer virtual items, cards or accounts for real money or any consideration outside the Game (resale sites, social networks, peer-to-peer payments…), or to use trades to move items between your own accounts.

We are not a party to trades between players. In case of fraud, abuse, technical error or breach of these terms, we may cancel a transaction, remove the items involved and apply the measures of section 15.

11. Music content and third-party services

Audio previews (30 seconds maximum), cover art and artist photos are provided by third-party services (in particular the Deezer public API and Apple’s iTunes API) and streamed, not downloaded. They belong to their rights holders (artists, labels, publishers) and are used to identify songs and play a short preview. Links let you listen to full tracks on streaming platforms (Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer), whose terms and privacy policies then apply.

SoundDrop is not affiliated with Deezer, Apple, Spotify or the artists, labels or publishers mentioned, and is not sponsored or endorsed by them.

The availability of a preview depends on these services. A preview, cover or card may become unavailable or be removed at a rights holder’s request. In that case, we make our best efforts to compensate affected players in the Game (for example with dust or a card of the same rarity). Any rights holder who wants content removed can write to contact@arkodinstudio.com: the request is handled as quickly as possible.

12. Season pass and SoundDrop+

  • The season pass lasts one season (about 6 weeks; dates are shown in the Game). Its free track is open to everyone; its premium track is unlocked by an in-app purchase valid for the current season, with no renewal. Rewards must be claimed before the season ends.
  • SoundDrop+ is an optional monthly subscription giving comfort and collection perks (daily pack, premium pass track, exclusive cosmetics…), with no advantage in battles.

Content, price, renewal and cancellation: see the terms of sale.

13. Code of conduct and fair play

When using the Game, you agree in particular not to:

  • cheat: use automatic music recognition tools, third-party software, scripts, bots or any other automated means to answer blind tests, play or accumulate rewards;
  • manipulate battles, rankings, trades or auctions (collusion between accounts, fixed games, multiple accounts);
  • exploit a bug or vulnerability instead of reporting it to us;
  • modify, decompile or try to access the Game’s code, servers or data, or intercept communications between the app and our servers;
  • disrupt the Game or our servers (overloading, automated requests, circumventing limits or protections);
  • sell, buy or rent accounts or virtual items for real money;
  • harass, threaten, insult or deceive other players, or publish unlawful or hateful content or content that infringes the rights of others;
  • use the Game for commercial, advertising or unlawful purposes.

The Game includes automated anti-cheat checks (for example: humanly impossible response times, games that are too fast, abnormal activity). An answer detected as impossible may be counted as wrong or a game cancelled. If you find a bug or vulnerability, report it from Profile → Settings → “A bug, an idea?” or to support@arkodinstudio.com.

14. Reporting, blocking and moderation

Zero tolerance. No objectionable content (username, avatar, listing…) and no abusive behaviour towards other players is tolerated in the Game. An automatic filter applies to usernames.

  • Report: from a player’s profile or from the trade screen, the “Report” (« Signaler ») button sends us the username and the reason. Reports are reviewed by a person, usually within 24 hours.
  • Block: from the same screens, the “Block” (« Bloquer ») button prevents that player from interacting with you (friends, gifts, trades). You can unblock them at any time.
  • Outcome: a username that breaks the rules may be renamed; an offending account may be restricted, suspended or deleted (section 15).

You can also write to support@arkodinstudio.com. You can report to us any content (username, avatar, listing…) or behaviour you consider unlawful or contrary to these terms at contact@arkodinstudio.com, our single point of contact under the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), in French or English.

State the username or location of the content, the reason for the report and, unless the law provides otherwise, your name and email address. We acknowledge receipt, review each report diligently and objectively, usually within 24 hours, and inform the reporter of the outcome. The player targeted by a measure is informed of it, with reasons, and can appeal (section 15).

15. Measures in case of breach

In case of breach of these terms or of the terms of sale, and depending on its seriousness and repetition, we may:

  • issue a warning;
  • remove virtual items, scores or rankings obtained irregularly, or change a username;
  • restrict certain features (trades, market, rankings…);
  • temporarily suspend the account;
  • in case of serious or repeated breach (organised cheating, selling accounts or items for real money, payment or refund fraud, harassment), permanently close the account.

These measures are proportionate. Automated checks may detect abnormal activity, but any account suspension or closure is decided by a person. Except in an emergency or where the law requires otherwise, we inform you of the measure and its reasons by any available means (in the Game or by email). You can appeal by writing to contact@arkodinstudio.com: your request is reviewed by a person and the measure is lifted if it was not justified.

A justified measure gives no right to a refund of in-app purchases used in breach of these terms, within the limits set by law.

16. Social features, referrals and notifications

Your username, avatar, level, league, showcase, cards offered for trade or sale, scores and rankings (daily challenge, weekly league, an artist’s Top Fan…) may be visible to other players. You can add friends with their friend code. The Game has no free-text messaging between players.

Referrals

Where the Game offers it, a new player can enter another player’s friend code (their “referrer”) shortly after signing up, within the time limit and under the conditions shown in the Game (for example after the tutorial). The referrer and the new player then each receive a reward in virtual items, shown in the Game, and become friends if their friend lists allow it. To prevent abuse:

  • each new player can only be referred once, and you cannot refer yourself;
  • the number of rewarded new players is capped per referrer (the cap is shown in the Game);
  • referrals are not possible between players who have blocked each other;
  • creating accounts to obtain referral rewards, or exchanging codes for real money or any other consideration, is prohibited: in case of abuse, the rewards concerned may be withdrawn and the measures of section 15 applied.

Notifications

If you allow them, the Game may send you notifications: reminders generated on your device (free pack ready, streak) and game notifications sent by our servers (trades, friends and gifts, market and auctions, Signed cards). They are optional: you can turn them off at any time, by category in Profile → Settings or entirely in your phone’s settings. Turning them off has no effect on the rest of the Game. See the privacy policy.

17. Availability, changes and end of the game

We do our best to keep the Game available and working properly, but it may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, technical incidents or the unavailability of a third-party service (hosting, App Store, content providers). The Game evolves: modes, seasons, events, cards and features may be added, changed or removed, and an app update may be required to keep playing. These changes do not reduce the content of a purchase already delivered or the perks of an ongoing subscription.

If we decide to permanently shut down the Game, we will notify you in the Game at least 60 days in advance and stop selling in-app purchases from that announcement. Ongoing SoundDrop+ subscriptions will then no longer renew.

18. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Game: Profile → Account → Delete my account, or by writing to contact@arkodinstudio.com from the address linked to your account. Deletion is permanent: your collection, virtual currencies, progress and perks are lost and can be neither recovered nor refunded. Ongoing trades, listings and auctions are cancelled and items committed by other players are returned to them.

Important: deleting your account does not stop a SoundDrop+ subscription. Cancel it first in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

Deleting the app from your device does not delete your account. We may also delete an account in the cases set out in section 15 or after a long period of inactivity, as described in the privacy policy.

19. Liability

We are liable for the proper performance of our obligations as provided by law, in particular article L.221-15 of the French Consumer Code. We are not liable for damage attributable to your own conduct or to a breach of these terms, to the unforeseeable and insurmountable act of a third party (including another player), or to force majeure within the meaning of article 1218 of the French Civil Code.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct or personal injury, or reduces the rights you have by law as a consumer, in particular the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services (see the terms of sale).

If you use the Game for professional purposes, and to the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damage and to the amount you paid us during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability.

20. Personal data

We process your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act, as described in the privacy policy. You can exercise your rights at contact@arkodinstudio.com.

21. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, in particular to keep up with changes to the Game or the law. For any significant change, we will notify you in the Game (or by email if your account has one) at least 15 days before it takes effect. If you disagree, you can stop using the Game and delete your account; if you keep using it after that date, the new terms apply. A change does not apply to in-app purchases already delivered. The current version is always available at arkodinstudio.com/sounddrop/ei/conditions (French original) and arkodinstudio.com/en/sounddrop/ei/terms (English translation).

Update of September 26, 2026: added sign-in with Apple and with a one-time code received by email (section 4), referrals and notifications (section 16).

22. Governing law, mediation and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer residing in another country of the European Union, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of that country’s law (article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 593/2008, “Rome I”).

Amicable settlement. If there is a problem, please contact us first at support@arkodinstudio.com or contact@arkodinstudio.com: we always look for an amicable solution.

Mediation. If you are a consumer and your written complaint has not been resolved, you can refer the matter free of charge to a consumer mediator (articles L.611-1 et seq. and L.612-1 of the French Consumer Code), no later than one year after your complaint: [CONSUMER MEDIATOR — to be appointed].

Courts. Failing agreement, the dispute will be brought before the competent French courts; if you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings, at your choice, before the court of the place where you lived when the contract was concluded or when the damage occurred, or any other court competent by law. For a person acting for professional purposes, the courts of Paris have exclusive jurisdiction.

23. Miscellaneous

  • Language. These terms are written in French. This English translation is provided for your convenience; in case of conflict, the French version prevails.
  • Severability. If a clause is held void or unenforceable, the others remain in force.
  • No waiver. Not exercising a right at a given time does not mean waiving it.
  • Transfer. We may transfer the contract to a person or company that takes over the operation of the Game (for example a company set up by the publisher), provided your rights are not reduced. You will be informed in advance in the Game; if you disagree, you can delete your account. You may not transfer your rights and obligations without our consent.
